How to clean your laminate flooring

First of all – put that mop away! It may be tempting to soak the area (those pesky crayon marks!), but that’s the worst thing you could do to your laminate floor. One of the best things about laminate flooring is that it’s stylish, low-maintenance and easy to clean, however, you must remember that laminate flooring is not waterproof, so only use a damp cloth to deal with any spillages.

If you’re nervous about how to keep your laminate floor clean, worry no more, as we’ve got a handy and useful care guide here for you.

How to clean your vinyl flooring

There’s a reason most busy parents opt for vinyl flooring – it’s fuss free, low-maintenance and modern technology means it looks better than it ever did before!

However, vinyl flooring is not invincible and still needs to be looked after with care. For your usual spillages (milk, juice, water), we’d recommend you mop up any spillages as soon as you can using an absorbent cloth. Avoid harsh detergents and anything abrasive – for more advice, click here!

What is the best pet friendly flooring?

The pitter patter of small feet is so lovely – and we don’t just mean your little one, we’re talking about your four-legged pals, too! There’s a lot to think about – you don’t want a carpet that can be clawed at or pulled too easily, nor do you want a floor that will just scratch.

Our in-store colleagues will be able to advise the best flooring for your pet, from cosy carpets to scratch-resistant vinyl. Or you can read our handy guide here.

How to get rid of fleas

Did you know that fleas love warm and humid conditions, which means that during the winter they don’t only hide in our homes but thrive within them too? Fleas in carpet are therefore common if you have pets, especially if you have a cat or a dog.

To banish fleas from your home, use an anti-flea carpet solution that will not damage your carpet. Spray it in every part of your home and on the carpet, and most importantly in every corner! Treat your furniture too and in any place that you think that the fleas may want to hide, such as pet beds and toys. Do make sure that your pet has been flea-treated first though, as otherwise the problem will return. If the flea problem in your home persists then seek professional carpet cleaners.
